Remote Legal Accountant

🧳 Position : Legal Accountant ⏰️ Schedule: Mountain Standard Time (MST) | EST overlap accepted 📍 Location: Remote - Latin America

🗓️ Overview We are a boutique CPA firm that works exclusively with law firm clients. This is not a generalist bookkeeping role, law firm accounting is its own discipline, and we hire for it specifically.You'll own the monthly accounting cycle for a portfolio of law firm clients: coding, reconciliations, and financial statements. The most critical piece is trust accounting — 3-way trust reconciliations are a non-negotiable part of the job, and we need someone who has done this before, not someone who will learn on the job. We value people who are proactive and flag things early, but who also know where their scope ends and check in before acting outside it.

📊 Key Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close cycle: transaction coding, bank reconciliations, and clean financial statements for assigned law firm clients

• Perform 3-way trust reconciliations (client ledger, bank statement, trust register) each month with zero tolerance for discrepancies

• Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks Online for each client

• Handle basic client communication. flag questions, request missing items, and escalate when needed

• Use AI tools to support accuracy, speed, and workflow efficiency

• Flag scope questions before acting — don't assume, ask

✅️ Must Have

• 2–3+ years of bookkeeping experience specifically within a law firm or legal accounting environment

• 3-way trust reconciliation experience — this is a hard requirement

• Law firms working experience

• Hands-on QuickBooks Online proficiency (live QBO test is part of the interview process)

• Proactive communicator who understands the difference between initiative and overreach

• Comfortable using AI tools as part of your daily workflow

• Fluent English — written and verbal

• Legal practice management software
