Senior Java Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Java Engineer to build and evolve a Backend for Frontend service layer that powers high-traffic mobile experiences for clients worldwide. You will collaborate with engineers, product partners, designers, and QA to deliver fast, reliable APIs and maintain beautiful code.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver the Backend for Frontend API layer for mobile clients

• Build server-side services in Java using Spring Boot and modern patterns

• Implement and maintain REST APIs with attention to usability and consistency

• Optimize performance through profiling, analysis, and targeted improvements

• Write unit tests and enforce quality gates through continuous integration

• Refactor and simplify codebases by improving or removing legacy code safely

• Fix defects quickly and prevent regressions through root-cause analysis

• Collaborate with engineers, product partners, designers, and QA to ship features

• Integrate with existing backend services and handle compatibility constraints

• Propose solutions for ambiguous problems and communicate technical tradeoffs

Requirements

• 3+ years of Java backend development experience

• Strong Spring Boot experience building server-side applications

• Strong REST API design and integration experience

• Strong algorithms and data structures knowledge

• Strong unit testing skills and experience with test automation

• Build tool experience with CI pipelines and automated quality checks

• Performance optimization skills for asynchronous and high-throughput services

• Problem-solving skills for open-ended technical challenges

• Team collaboration skills in cross-functional environments

• Self-starter mindset with ownership and initiative

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

• Upper-Intermediate English skills (B2) for clear written and spoken communication

Nice to have

• Docker experience for local development and deployments

• Gradle experience for builds and dependency management

• GraphQL experience for API schema design and query optimization

• Kotlin experience in server-side development

• RAML experience for API modeling and documentation
