SQL Server Database Administrator - DBA (Remote LATAM)

Key Responsibilities Database Administration & Maintenance

• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances (on-premises and/or cloud).

• Manage security, roles, permissions, and backups .

• Monitor database health and performance proactively.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR)

• Design, implement, and maintain Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, and Replication .

• Ensure 99.99% uptime and meet high-performance standards.

• Conduct automatic failover testing, backups, and disaster recovery planning .

Performance Tuning & Optimization

• Identify and resolve SQL query performance issues using execution plans, indexing strategies, and query optimization .

• Implement best practices for indexing, partitioning, and resource allocation .

• Analyze and optimize T-SQL queries and stored procedures .

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• Utilize SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, DMVs, and third-party monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Redgate, SQLSentry ).

• Diagnose and resolve database connectivity and replication issues .

• Automate monitoring and maintenance tasks for efficiency.

Security & Compliance

• Implement database encryption, auditing, and access controls to ensure data security.

• Ensure timely patching and upgrades to mitigate vulnerabilities.

Collaboration & Documentation

• Work with developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to optimize database solutions.

• Provide technical support and guidance for application teams.

• Document database architectures, processes, and recovery plans .

Required Qualifications & Skills • 3+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA .

• Expertise in SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and other HA/DR solutions .

• Strong understanding of T-SQL scripting, indexing, and query tuning .

• Experience with SQL Server 2016, 2019, and/or 2022 .

• Knowledge of Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) .

• Familiarity with cloud-based SQL solutions (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL).

• Experience with PowerShell, automation scripts, and monitoring tools .

• Understanding of database security principles and compliance standards .

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) • Experience with NoSQL or hybrid cloud databases (e.g., Databricks ).

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools related to databases.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MCSA: SQL Server ).

• Experience with cloud-based backup and recovery platforms (e.g., Rubrik, Veeam, Commvault ), including use of the backup and restore interface.
